Developing Resources For The Psychology Teacher

Is there a simple way of taking all A Level Psychology students up one grade?

With many sixth form psychology students you will be able to predict their final grade after a term or so. But occasionally you find a student who significantly exceeds your expectations – the student predicted a D who gets a B, and so on.

How does it happen?

There can be many reasons, but the most common explanation is that you are looking at a student who, one way or another, has learned how to revise.

Naturally all students are told something of how to revise – and psychology students should know this more than most given that the topic of memory will be part of their area of study.

But even so, it is interesting to note that many psychology students do not fully grasp what information is relevant, how that information will be assessed and most of all how to revise it effectively.

The simplest way to give your students this knowledge in a form that they will utilise is to provide information on revision in a distinct and separate manner, away from the everyday teaching of the subject – and that’s exactly what I offer to do.

A one day session with all your psychology A-level students, held in your school, will cost from £450, depending on where in the country you are located. Below is an example of the contents of a one-day session – but please note the day’s work can be varied to take account of your students’ particular needs. I do hope you will be interested.

Yours sincerely,

Jeanne Upson

What others have said

“Jeanne is both inspirational and down-to-earth in her approach – she will enable you to get what teachers, students and parents want: good grades… Jeanne is brilliant – she knows every exam question ever asked and pre-empts those that haven’t appeared yet.”

Jenni Hart, Reed School, Surrey

“Without doubt I will be asking Jeanne to present another revision programme next year.  It was an outstanding success for both students and staff.”

Guy Thompson, Langley Park Comprehensive, Kent

“Jeanne’s day with my students dovetailed perfectly with my teaching.  This was in part due to the fact that we discussed their specific needs beforehand, but also because of her simple and meticulous guidelines for how to write an exam answer.  The students have already requested her return for the next module.”

Jacky Childs, Burnham Grammar School, Slough
